ASME and Coast Guard to Sponsor New Marine Technology Workshop

ASME and the U.S. Coast Guard will jointly sponsor the first Workshop on Marine Technology and Standards, which will be held June 3–4 at the Sheraton National Hotel in Arlington, Va.

The workshop will provide a technical exchange on areas of technology that impact the marine industry, with corresponding coverage in related codes, standards and government regulations.

The event will include sessions on industry trends and emerging technologies, codes and standards, and classification society and government regulatory concerns. Specific issues to be discussed in a panel session format include pressurized cargoes and fuels, pressure vessels, piping, and risk-based approaches to engineering evaluation of marine systems. Session organizers for the workshop will include government agencies, classification societies, industry groups, and standards development organizations.

The workshop is concurrent with public technical meetings of the ASME Committee on Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy, which will be held at the same location from June 3–6.

Although the workshop is free, registration is required. For more information, or to fill out the online registration form, visit www.asmeconferences.org/asmeuscg08.
