GE Healthcare's Darby to Give Keynote at Bioprocess Seminars in Stockholm

Nigel Darby, general manager of biotechnologies at GE Healthcare Life Sciences, will be the keynote presenter at the 2nd Annual Bioprocess Technology Seminars and Exhibition — Europe, from June 23–25, in Stockholm, Sweden.

The conference will feature six concurrent seminars focused on topics that are at the forefront of the bioprocess technology serving the needs of those involved in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and healthcare industries. Topics include bioreactor design, purification process development, aseptic fill and finish for biopharmaceuticals, equipment design, disposables technology, and systems maintenance and operations.

During his presentation, "Trends in Biological Manufacturing: How Will Our Industry Change in the Next 10 Years?", Darby will provide a survey of the likely trends in biological manufacturing over the next 10 years and how it's evolving to meet the demands of the industry.

Questions to be addressed during the session will include:

• What new treatment options will emerge from the pipeline and how will this affect our manufacturing infrastructure?

• How will we deal with the increasing pressure on reimbursement to manufacture therapies more cost effectively?

• How do we increase the flexibility and responsiveness of our manufacturing infrastructure to deal with threats such as pandemic influenza?

• And how can we facilitate an increase in industry productivity to get candidate drugs to the clinic more rapidly?
