Deadline for ASME Student Loans Is This Month

The deadline to apply for an ASME Student Loan for the winter/spring 2009 loan cycle is Oct. 15. The ASME Student Loan Fund has already helped more than 2,300 ASME student members obtain low-interest student loans. Don’t miss out on your chance to apply.

The 2008–09 loan carries a low fixed rate of 5 percent — 1 percent below the Federal Stafford Loan variable rate. The ASME Student Loan Fund, which was started by a grant from the ASME Board of Governors, is sustained by student members repaying the loans after they've graduated. So, the program truly is an example of members helping other members.

Qualified full-time undergraduate students in the United States, Canada, and Mexico may borrow up to $3,000 per academic year to a maximum of $9,000. Full-time graduate students may request an additional $3,000.

If you’re interested in applying for a loan, but you’re not an ASME student member yet, visit www.asme.org/Education/College/FinancialAid/

and find out how to apply for student membership for only $25 a year, and apply for an ASME student loan or scholarship at the same time.
