During the ceremony at the Detroit Ritz-Carlton Hotel in April, the
ASME Detroit Section awarded $100 cash prizes to three area middle school
students who had written essays on the subject "Why I Want to Be
an Engineer."
ASME E-Library expands to 75
titles
The ASME E-Library is a members-only benefit that allows you to access
online engineering publications to help answer questions and find practical
solutions to daily on-the-job problems.
Valuing volunteerism
The ASME Foundation recently received a $1,000 cash gift from ExxonMobil
Foundation. This contribution was a matching gift for hours volunteered
to ASME by Philip Grossweiler, an ExxonMobil retiree and ASME member.
ASME member named president
of Norfolk State
Carolyn W. Meyers, Ph.D., an ASME member and past vice president of
the Board on Minorities and Women, was named president of Norfolk State
University effective July 1, 2006.
DeVries selected as dean
of engineering and IT at UMBC
Last month, Warren R. DeVries began his tenure as the new dean of Engineering
and Information Technology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore
County (UMBC).
