Stothe Peter Kezios, Ph.D., P.E., a former president of ASME, died at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta on Aug. 15. He was 84. Kezios, who served as ASME president in 1977-78, graduated from Lane Technical High School and Illinois Institute of Technology, both in Chicago.

Kezios served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II and post-war in Japan. He received his master's and doctoral degrees in mechanical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, and later, for 23 years, was professor and director of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology.

In addition to his tenure as ASME president, Kezios, an ASME Life Fellow, also served as chair of ASME's Board on Communications and as the ASME representative to the Pan American Congress of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Related Branches (COPIMERA). He received the ASME Dedicated Service Award in 1986, and had been a member of ASME for 62 years.
