During the meeting of the ASME Auxiliary in Atlanta, it was noted that Life Members no longer contribute effectively to our scholarships beyond their initial investment. A letter seeking additional funds will go out to Life Members in the coming months.

During the meeting, the Auxiliary decided to explore the establishment of an affiliate membership that will enable people who are not directly related to an ASME member to join the Auxiliary. The name suggested for this membership category is Friend.

The members of the committee looking into establishing this kind of membership are Carolyn Chenoweth, Benetta Cook and Myrna Zamrik.

Another committee was also established to look into the creation of a reserve fund that will allow the Auxiliary to give scholarships during the lean years, when the interest generated by our funds is insufficient. The members of that committee are Lynn Gerber, Helene Sherwood and Myrna Zamrik.

Anyone wishing to contribute to this discussion with the two committees can contact their chairperson, Carolyn Chenoweth, at (626) 795-8939 or chenowethj@asme.org, and Lynn Gerber at (716) 941-3932 or gordlynngerber@cs.com.

Since the Auxiliary is celebrating its 80th year this year, the goal of the organization is to find 80 new members.

We welcome anyone who would like to join and help us reach this goal. If you wish to join, please contact Lynn Gerber at the above telephone number or e-mail.
