ASME develops a new standard
for gas pipeline integrity management
A new, non-mandatory supplement to ASME B31.8 was completed recently
to aid gas pipeline operators in the development and implementation
of an integrity management program.

Armed Forces Radio, which has signed on to air the program three times
a day beginning on Labor Day.
E-mentoring program expanded
for 2002-03
The goal is to go beyond the total of 226 students and young engineers
who were matched with experienced engineers last year. Mentors worked
with 185 students and 41 young engineers.
Performance Test Codes undertakes
revision in quest for consistency
ASME Performance Test Codes is forming a standards committee intended
to undertake the revision of PTC 19.23-1980, Guidance Manual for Model
Testing.
Society introduces versatile
Standards Technology Institute
In an effort to enhance the development and management of technically
relevant codes and standards, ASME has launched the Standards Technology
Institute operating under the Council on Codes and Standards.
