Power issues to be focus of PALC

Electric Power Deregulation: Lessons Learned and New Challenges will be the subject of a noontime briefing on Capitol Hill scheduled for participants at ASME's Public Affairs Leadership Conference (PALC), which takes place later this month. PALC is a public affairs conference for engineers.

Sponsored by the Council on Public Affairs, PALC 2001 will be held Sept. 23-25 in Alexandria, Va., which is just outside of Washington.

Sen. Vernon Ehlers, R-Mich.; officials of the U.S. Department of Energy; and John M. Derrick, Jr., chairman of theU.S. Energy Association, were invited to attend. ASME President William Weiblen will welcome participants.

In addition to the noontime briefing, this year's event will feature interactive workshops, a public policy roundtable discussion and visits with Congressional representatives. Registration is $99.
