A full day on tap for YEF attendees during Congress

Product liability and a panel discussion on exploring alternate career paths will be among the featured topics at the next Young Engineers Forum, which will take place during the International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition in New York.

The Young Engineers Forum (YEF), on Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will provide practical advice and information to help younger engineers advance their careers through accounts of real-life experiences by industry professionals. It is open to all Congress attendees.

The one-day program for the 20th YEF will focus on "Which Path Is Right for Mechanical Engineers: Creating Your Own Success."

The day will begin with a discussion about product liability. Charles F. Reinholtz, a professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, will give attendees an overview of product liability issues associated with new product development, design, reliability testing, production, and marketing of products and services.

Following the discussion on product liability, a session will be held on business ethics by Vincent Gallogly, an adjunct professor of engineering at Cooper Union. A talk on protecting intellectual property by Leonard S. Sorgi, an attorney in New York City, will follow.

The day will conclude with a panel discussion that will offer a real-life perspective on "What it Takes to Succeed as an Engineer."

For a program of the events or to register, visit www. asme.org/yef. Registration before Oct. 31 is $25; after that date the cost is $30.
