The next meeting of the National Board of the ASME Auxiliary will be held on Nov. 7, during ASME's International Congress at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Chicago.

On the day of the meeting, the Auxiliary will sponsor a guest luncheon to be held at the Art Institute of Chicago, which is within walking distance of the hotel. The luncheon is at 12:30 p.m. and will be followed by a self-guided tour of the Art Institute. The cost of the luncheon and the tour is $32.

In other Auxiliary news, a member of the Auxiliary board of directors suggested at its meeting in June that new members of the Auxiliary may application reviewers on the Scholarship Committees. This would be an opportunity to get acquainted with other members of the organization. If any of you new members are interested in serving on the Scholarship Committees, please notify Lynn Gerber, the president of the Auxiliary, at Gordlynngerber@cs.com.

The Elizabeth M. and Winchell M. Parsons Scholarship Committee awarded $2,000 to each of the following candidates for the 2006-2007 Academic Year:

• Jessica Sheehan, University of Virginia;

• Pablo Tarazaga, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; and

• Samuel Jones, Iowa State University of Science and Technology.

This scholarship is awarded for work toward a doctorate in mechanical engineering.
