Nano Showcase winner earns
$10,000 prize
A startup lithography company from Santa Clara, Calif., was the winner
of the $10,000 top prize at the First NanoIgnite Company Competition
during the ASME Integrated Nanosystems Conference last month in Berkeley,
Calif.

ASME is seeking candidates to represent the Society and their profession
in this Engineering Week 2006 program, which highlights the contributions
of young engineers and the resulting impact on society-at-large.

safety contest winners
The annual competition promotes safety engineering as a field of study
and encourages students to consider safety engineering as a career option.
Nominations sought for Kreith
Energy Award
The annual award, which will be presented thanks to a $40,000 endowment
from the Kreith family, will be conferred upon an individual who has
made great achievements in energy conservation and renewable energy
technology.

The new committee would be charged with revising the existing American
National Standard ASME PTC 42-1988, "Wind Turbines."
