Don't Miss the Honors Assembly

To the Editor: On Tuesday, Nov. 8, during the International Mechanical Engineering Congress, an event will take place that you won't want to miss — the Honors Assembly, an impressive and dramatic audiovisual experience.

This year, the following Awards and Medals will be presented: Honorary Membership to Sia Nemat-Nasser, John Henry Sununu and Charles O. Velzy; the ASME Medal to Robert E. Uhrig; the Henry Laurence Gantt Medal to Kathleen M. Bader; the Melvin R. Green Codes and Standards Medal to James H. Turner; the Holley Medal to James D. Walker; the ASME Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies Inc. Medal to Joseph Bordogna; the M. Eugene Merchant Manufacturing Medal of ASME/SME to James J. Padilla; and the Spirit of St. Louis Medal to Robert H. Liebeck.

The assembly will be followed by a reception, during which you will have the opportunity to socialize with the award recipients and other attendees. This part of the evening provides members with the opportunity to talk to those colleagues — old friends and new — you have missed during the hectic first days of the meeting.

The Honors Assembly is free and all are invited to attend. The Honors Reception is a cash bar event. For those of you wishing to join the honorees at the Honors Dinner, tickets can be purchased in the Registration area of the Hotel.

On behalf of ASME, I hope you will join us for this special evening.

— William W. Durgin, Chair
ASME Committee on Honors
