Von Flue Medal nominations now being accepted

The deadline for nominations to the Frank von Flue Medal, which acknowledges achievements in the promotion of lifelong learning, is Jan. 31, 2005. The award consists of an honorarium of $1,000 and a bronze medal. It will be presented at a ceremony at ASME's 2005 International Mechanical Engineering Congress in November.

The annual medal, which was established in 2002, recognizes significant contributions by an individual or a group to the promotion of lifelong learning for mechanical engineers and to the development or implementation of strategies and materials that support lifelong learning.

The award is sponsored by the Board on Professional Development in honor of the late Frank von Flue. Von Flue, who served on the Board of Governors, was an industrial manager and a pioneer in promoting professional development within ASME.

Please submit names and supporting documentation to Marian Heller, ASME Coordinator of Education Activities, Three Park Ave., New York, N.Y., 10016-0059.

Nomination criteria and forms are available on the ASME web site, www.asme.org/education/prodev/awards/vonflue/index.htm.
