Passing of Baton

ASME Past President Sue Skemp (center) is scheduled to begin working in the Office of Science and Technology this month as ASME's Federal Fellow. Skemp will serve for one year in OSTP's Technology Directorate and will take over the responsibilities of ASME member Mike Molnar (second from left). His 12-month term working for the Manufacturing R&D group within the National Science and Technology Council expired. Skemp will take over as both the OSTP representative and the executive secretary to this group. Like Molnar, Skemp is expected to be the policy lead for industry technology matters, and in particular for two key actions in the President's Manufac-turing Initiative, specifically the NSTC Manufacturing R&D group and the Manufacturing Innovation Executive Order. Also pictured are Phil Bond (far left), chair of the Inter-agency Working Group and Commerce Undersecretary for Technology, and Dale Hall (far right), vice chair of Interagency Working Group, and director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's manufacturing laboratories.
