LDI program offers taste of leadership
Four
of this year's LDIs visited ASME headquarters last month. Standing,
from left: Larry C. Russell, who works for the U.S. Army Research Office
in Research Triangle, N.C., is working with the Council on Engineering,
and Curtis E. Schmillen, who is employed by Harris Mechanical Contracting
in St. Paul, Minn., and is working with the Council on Member Affairs.
Seated, from left, are G. Mitchell Lowe, who is supporting the Council
on Codes and Standards. He works for Eastman Chemical in Kingsport,
Tenn. Yohei K. Yamamuro, seated right, will work with the Council on

ASME's Leadership Development Initiative (LDI)
program is a year-long activity for younger members designed to identify
and cultivate future ASME leaders.
Participants serve a one-year interactive learning experience with
one of the five councils or with the Board of Governors.
Applications are now being solicited for next year's six LDI
intern positions. The application deadline is Dec.10. Applications and
