The November 19 Auxiliary Board Meeting at the
Hilton Hotel in New Orleans will be followed by the traditional luncheon.
It will be held in a private room at the
hotel, and will cost about $40. The price was higher at all other facilities.
The luncheon speaker will be Raphael Cassimere, Jr., who will speak about
the history of New Orleans. Tickets may be obtained by calling (800) 843-2763.
From November 2001 until June 2002, Alverta Cover received 31 inquiries
about our Undergraduate Scholarships. This number is consistent with previous
years. The inquiries were received and answered by mail or e-mail. By
March 15, she had received 29 applications, of which 25 were eligible.
At the National Board Meeting in June, the ASME Auxiliary Board voted
to award Farny Undergraduate Scholarships to seven undergraduate students.
The scholarship awarded to Michael Geruso, a student at Virginia Tech,
was created in memory of Hattie Friend.
Several students received Farny Scholarships created in memory of Debbie
Mercer: Amanda Busch of Gannon University, Robert Riffert of Penn State,
Cecil Ramsey of St. Martin University and Paula Runge of Mississippi State.
Farny Scholarships were also awarded to Jeremy Hubers of Dordt and James
Stripe of Tri-State University.
