LDI experience opens eyes of members studying ASME operations

For younger members of ASME who want to learn more about how the Society works, participating in the Leadership Development Initiative (LDI) will be an eye-opening experience. This program is open to ASME members who are between five and 10 years past receiving their bachelor's degrees.

Six LDI interns are selected annually, one to serve the Board of Governors and one to serve with each of the five councils. LDI interns are invited to attend the meetings of their assigned unit and bring the perspective of the younger member to the table, while learning about how ASME operates.

LDI graduates have gone on to serve ASME in numerous volunteer capacities, including those at the local, regional and society officer level.

The deadline to apply for the next LDI program is Dec. 10. Applications are available online at www.asme.org/ldi/. For more information, e-mail Warren Leonard at leonardw@asme.org or call (212) 591-7846.
