Don't Miss the Honors
Assembly
To the Editor: On Tuesday, Nov. 7, during the International
Mechanical Engineering Congress, an event will take place that you won't
want to miss - the Honors Assembly, an impressive and dramatic audiovisual
experience.

This year, the following awards and medals will be presented: Honorary
Membership to Dr. Alva L. Addy, Dr. James R. Welty, and Dr. Ward O.
Winer; the ASME Medal to Prof. Richard J. Goldstein; the Henry Laurence
Gantt Medal to Charla K. Wise; the Melvin R. Green Codes and Standards
Medal to J. Robert Sims, Jr.; the Frank Kreith Energy Award to Prof.
Roland Winston; the ASME Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies Inc.
Medal to Prof. Abel Hernandez-Guerrero; the M. Eugene Merchant Manufacturing
Medal of ASME/SME to Prof. Yoran Koren; and the Dixy Lee Ray Award to
Richard Pombo.
The Honors Assembly will be followed by a reception, during which you
will have the opportunity to socialize with the award recipients and
other attendees. This part of the evening provides members with the
opportunity to talk to those colleagues old friends and new
you have missed during the hectic first days of the meeting.
The Honors Assembly is free and all attendees are invited to attend.
The Honors Reception is a cash bar event. For those of you wishing to
join the honorees at the Honors Dinner, which follows the reception,
tickets can be purchased in the registration area of the hotel.
On behalf of ASME, I hope you will join us for this special evening.
William W. Durgin, Chair
ASME Committee on Honors
