Future of Engineering forum set for Congress

ASME's Center for Leadership and Diversity will sponsor a special forum, "The Future of Engineering: The Role of Diversity in Engineering Education," in conjunction with ASME's 2005 International Mechanical Engineering Congress.

John Brooks Slaughter

The forum takes place on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 2:45 p.m. at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels in Orlando, Fla. John Brooks Slaughter, president and chief executive officer of NACME Inc., will serve as this year's forum moderator.

The goal of the forum is to provide a venue for an open and informed discussion of how leading academic institutions are incorporating diversity as a strategy into their business plans. Forum attendees will discuss what steps academic institutions are taking to reach out to females and non-traditional male engineering students, as well as how academia, industry and government will meet the demands of the 21st century global workplace.

The forum is open to the public, and there is no charge for admission. Congress attendees who wish to attend the forum should contact Mary James Legatski at legatskim@asme.org to pre-register.

Questions about the Future of Engineering Forum should be directed to Mary Lynn Realff, (404) 894-2496, e-mail mr37@prism.gatech.edu; Klod Kokini, (765) 494-5340, e-mail Kokini@purdue.edu; or Mary James Legatski, (302) 539-1254, e-mail legatskim@asme.org.
