While in China to sign two agreements and two Memoranda of Understanding,
ASME President Harry Armen and Executive Director Virgil R. Carter also
had discussions with representatives from several societies regarding
joint membership, standards harmonization and nanotechnology.
New board unites student
sections on regional level
With Region III student sections outnumbering ASME senior
sections three to one, in Dan Nathan-Roberts'mind it only made sense
to create a regional board to organize them.
ASME's 125th, EWeek celebrated
ASME members are making plans to celebrate two significant events next
year: ASME's 125th anniversary and Engineers Week, which ASME will co-host
with energy giant BP p.l.c., marking a major push to encourage the celebration
of engineering on an international scale.
2004 Diversity Award to be
presented to student section advisor
ASME's 2004 Diversity and Outreach Award will be given to Winncy Du,
a resident of San Jose, Calif., and the ASME Student Section Advisor
at San Jose State University.

In September, ASME's Board of Governors approved the first ASME-level

will bear the name of a corporate sponsor.
