Energy Track promises wealth of information for professionals

ASME members who work in energy-related industries will be interested in attending the plenary session and panel sessions of the Energy Track during this month's Congress in New Orleans.

Organizers have assembled an impressive lineup of experts in such timely energy-related topics as global climate change; a national energy strategy; the future of coal, nuclear, oil, gas and renewable energy; energy efficiency; energy infrastructure security and unconventional power technologies.

The Energy Track will cover these topics over three days, each beginning at 7:45 a.m. and concluding near 5 p.m.

One of Louisiana's U.S. Senators, Mary Landrieu, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, has been invited to address the opening plenary session.

Staff from the United States Senate and House of Representatives will join senior-level officials from the Department of Energy, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, several national laboratories and industry leaders to discuss the issues involved in the previously mentioned topics.

This is the first year that ASME has initiated a track format to coincide with the International Congress. The Energy Track promises to be a valuable part of that format — one that anyone and everyone interested in the important energy issues of the day will not want to miss.
