dies
Daniel C. Drucker, Ph.D., who served as ASME president during 1973-74,
died in September 2001 in Florida, where he lived.
First director of Codes and Standards
Technology Institute is selected
John Koehr was hired in September as the first director of ASME's recently
formed Codes and Standards Technology Institute.
Pang to receive Board on Minorities
and Women Award
The award, which will be presented to Pang this month during the Congress
in New Orleans, recognizes an outstanding member of the Society who
has worked to advance the mission of the board to make ASME a welcome
home for all and to encourage the participation of women and underrepresented
minorities in the Society.

selected
ASME's State Government Coordinator program enables Society members
to contribute their professional experience and expertise to the public
policy process on a part-time basis.
STEM bill can go to legislators
The ASME Council on Education recently endorsed a model science, technology,
engineering and math (STEM) state bill, which members can take to their
state legislators and request that they introduce it.
