Workshop on aeronautics R&T set for December

ASME's Aerospace Division will host a workshop on Dec. 5 in Washington on the "State of the Nation's Aeronautics Research and Technology (R&T) Enterprise."

The Aerospace Division scheduled this workshop to bring together members of the scientific and engineering community to review the current near-term and future needs of the nation's aeronautics research and technology enterprise in a host of areas including aviation safety. Reviewing research needs in aeronautics will include discussion on the implications of the terrorist attacks.

Government, university and industry speakers will address the federal investment in R&T, technology advancements, facility upgrades, what is being done to sustain the high-quality workforce needed for aerospace programs, and whether U.S. industry can remain competitive internationally in light of the European Union's proposal to increase its investment in aeronautics R&T over the next two decades.

For details on the workshop, contact Kathryn Holmes at holmesk @asme.org or (202) 785-3756.

To register for the workshop, please send your name, title, organization, mailing address, phone number, fax number and e-mail address to: Sophia Norris at norriss@asme.org. The event is free of charge.
