CEI to present three nanotechnology tutorials during Congress session

The Continuing Education Institute will offer three nano-technology tutorials Nov. 13 and 14 during Congress. They will serve as a highlight to the Congress' nano-technology track.

Three leading experts will speak on the latest developments in these highly technical, intense, hands-on tutorials. All three programs will be videotaped for future purchase.

Ahmed Busnaina will speak on "Micro and Nanoscale Defects in Micro and Nanofabrication" on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Busnaina is William Lincoln Smith Professor, director of the Microcontamination Research Laboratory, and professor in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Northeastern University.

"The Nanoscale Tribology and Mechanics of MEMS/NEMS" will be taught by Bharat Bhushan on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 7:45 to 11 a.m. Bhushan is the Ohio Eminent Scholar and the Howard D. Winbigler Professor at Ohio State University. He is also director of the Nanotribology Laboratory for Information Storage and MEMS/NEMS.

The third tutorial in the series is "The Mechanics of Carbon Nano-tubes," taught by Vasyl Michael Harik on Nov. 14, from 2:00 to 5:15 p.m. Harik is senior staff scientist of the ICASE Institute at NASA Langley Research Center.

If you can't attend the tutorials, you may buy a videotape of each one as well as videotapes of other sessions in the nanotechnology track.

The cost of all three tutorials is $100 in addition to registration for Congress. For more information, visit www.asme.org/pro_dev/ techseminars/nanotechnology.html or contact Micaela Teodorescu at (212) 591-7904 or teordorescums@asme.org.
