Charleston, S.C., to be the site of short courses
on welding, turbines
ASME's Continuing Education Institute will present
six short courses, on subjects including pipeline operation, gas turbines
and welding technology, in South Carolina during January.
The courses will be offered from Jan. 14-17, 2002, at the Westin Francis
Marion in Charleston, S.C.
"ASME B31.4 for the Pipeline Operator," on Jan. 14-15, will provide attendees
with the foundation for properly applying the code in the interest of public
and employee safety. Participants will learn what factors cause pipeline
failure and what must be paid attention to in design, construction, operations
and maintenance to prevent failures. Registration is $895 for ASME members,
$995 for nonmembers.
The short course "The Gas Turbine: Principles and Applications" will also
be offered on Jan. 14 and 15. Upon completion of this class, attendees will
be able to discuss methods for evaluating the performance of gas turbines
and identify functions of the gas turbine's components. Registration is $695
for members, $795 for nonmembers.
"Practical Welding Technology," from Jan. 14-16, will provide attendees with
an overview of welding technology. The course is for those with no experience
with welding but who need to understand its fundamentals. Registration is
$855 for members, $955 for nonmembers.
Also from Jan. 14-16, "Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineering
Analysis and Applications" will give attendees a comprehensive understanding
of CFD. Registration is $915 for members, $1,015 for nonmembers.
"Design, Inspection and Repair of ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 Pressure Vessels,"
from Jan. 15-17, will stress design, inspection, examination and testing.
Registration is $950 for members, $1,050 for nonmembers.
