Panelists discuss Technology vs. Terrorism

In the wake of Sept. 11, ASME is holding a special plenary session during the International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition. "Technology vs. Terrorism: Designing Against the Threat of Assault" is scheduled to take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 11, in the Imperial Ballroom A, Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers.

The session, which will be free of charge, will involve two panels, each featuring top engineers who will discuss the technology and techniques that are currently being used to ensure aviation security and to combat bio-terrorism as well as the technology that will needs to be developed.

The scheduled panelists will include engineers from aviation industry, the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.

The scheduled panelists discussing technologies to combat bioterrorism include representatives from DARPA, Sandia National Laboratory and industries involved in decontamination.

ASME Badges or a photo ID will be needed to attend "Technology vs. Terrorism" on Sunday, November 11 at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, 811 7th Avenue (52nd Street), New York City.
