See what's new on ASME Connections
Keeping updated on the activities connected
with ASME's new strategic objectives takes diligence, but the ASME Connections
Web site (www.asme.org/About/Connections)
offers a shortcut. ASME Connections helps members rediscover the people,
projects and programs that are reshaping ASME into a more viable, market-focused
organization for all engineers, organizers of the Web site say.
ASME Connections provides easy access to the Society's new structure
and strategies, including a view of the five ASME sectors (Codes &
Standards, Knowledge and Community, Centers, Institutes, and Strategic
Management) and corresponding organizational chart.

The site also hosts the Balanced Scorecard Strategy Map, strategic
funding options, the "Changes at ASME" brochure and more.
There is also a link from the site to the Communities of Practice discussion
board.
An important feature of ASME Connections spotlights the stories of volunteers
and staff, and the early successes, views and commentary on how the
new ASME strategic focus has influenced their projects and activities.
For instance, Howard Berkof, an early career engineer and Board of Governors
leadership development initiative intern, discusses changes at ASME
and the future of the Society. "So many of today's early career
engineers have become accustomed to change to keep up with the world
economy and the changes at ASME are no different," Berkhof said.
As co-chair of the Leadership Training Conference committee, Jack Whitehead
has commented on the new conference and how it "
brought
ASME leaders together to realize their common interests and concerns
while providing a forum for making a difference in ASME."
