Turbo Expo forum will evaluate the future
of the aerospace industry
An international group of aerospace experts
will gather during ASME's 2004 Turbo Expo in June to assess the industry's
future.
The experts assembled for the International Aerospace Panel and Dinner
on June 15 at the Vienna Hilton in Austria will include members of the
U.S. Commission on the Future of the U.S. Aerospace Industry and the
European Advisory Group on Aerospace, which is also known as the Strategic
Aerospace Review for the 21st Century, or STAR-21.
The dinner, which begins at 7 p.m., will be held in conjunction with
ASME's Turbo Expo 2004 Power for Land, Sea and Air, an annual
conference and exposition focused on gas turbine technology.

The Commission on the Future of the U.S. Aerospace Industry was appointed
to formulate public policy programs that foster a favorable environment
for advanced technology development in the commercial sector.
Panelists representing the U.S. commission will include former U.S.
Rep. Robert S. Walker, who serves as commission chair, along with John
W. Douglass, president and CEO, Aerospace Industries Association and
co-chair of Aerospace Technology, and William Schneider Jr., chairman
of the Defense Science Board and co-chair of Aerospace Global Issues.
Joining the U.S. panelists will be STAR-21 representatives Sir Ralph
Robins, former chairman of Rolls-Royce, and Jean-Paul Béchat, chairman
and CEO of the Snecma Group. Other participants from STAR-21 will be
named later.
The European Advisory Group on Aerospace was established to analyze
the regulatory framework impacting the industry and create proposals
for fostering innovation and development.
Both groups will discuss their recommendations aimed at establishing
a sustained competitive foothold on the future of their respective aerospace
industries.
