Updated gas turbine book available

ASME has released the second edition of "Gas Turbine Performance," a book for engineers on how to achieve optimum fuel efficiency, stability and emissions control in aircraft, marine, and other types of gas turbine systems.

"Gas Turbine Performance" covers all the main aspects of performance, including starting, windmilling and analysis of engine test data. This revised edition includes chapters on mechanical design, engine components, and measurement and instrumentation. The publication can also be useful as a textbook for undergraduate study.

Written primarily for gas turbine designers in aerospace and other industries, the book discusses the effects of liquid, vapor and ice on gas turbines, and examines fuel and oil properties and their impact on engine performance.

Authors Philip P. Walsh and Paul Fletcher have worked for prominent gas turbine companies in the United States and United Kingdom.

"Gas Turbine Performance" is a publication of Blackwell Science Ltd. and ASME Press, which publishes user-oriented books for engineers. The book is now available from ASME by calling (800) 843-2763 or infocentral@asme.org. The book lists for $120. The charge for ASME members is $96. Refer to order No. 802116.
