The power industry's premier technical
event, the International Joint Power Generation Conference (IJPGC),
takes place next month in Phoenix.
The conference, which will be held from June 24-26 at the Pointe Hilton
Tapatio Cliffs Resort, is sponsored jointly by ASME's Power,
Fuel and Combustion Technologies Section and the Nuclear Engineering
Division, with participation by the Society's Plant Engineering
and Maintenance and Process Industries Divisions.
IJPGC's technical tracks will include information to help power
generation professionals stay technically proficient and aware of today's
industry trends.
Technical areas that will be covered in the five technical tracks include
components, plant systems and design engineering; operations, maintenance,
reliability, availability and maintainability; combined cycles, combustion
turbines, steam turbines and generators; fuels, combustion and emission
issues; and advanced energy systems.
A keynote session from 8 to 10 a.m. on Monday, June 24, "Engineering
the Power for Tomorrow," will consist of presentations by Meherwan
P. Boyce, P.E., and Kenneth A. Ewell, P.E.
Boyce, who is an ASME Fellow and managing partner of the Boyce Consultancy

in both industry and academia. Ewell, an ASME member, is a senior vice
president at Utility Engineering Corp. He is responsible for the overall
management and operation of the Utility Engineering East offices in
Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois and Minnesota.
Other special events at IJPGC include plenary sessions on Tuesday, June
