Turkey Section to host ESDA 2002
The Sixth Biennial Conference on Engineering
Systems Design and Analysis (ESDA 2002) will provide attendees with
the opportunity to learn about the latest materials, systems, equipment
and methods in the international engineering systems design and analysis
arena.
ASME International's Turkey Section organized ESDA 2002, which
will take place July 8-11 at Istanbul Technical University in Istanbul.
The conference was put together to serve as a forum for researchers
and engineers to discuss, exchange and explore ideas, methods and results
in conventional and contemporary topics of mechanical engineering.
The meeting was organized in cooperation with the Society's International
Region XIII, ASME's Petroleum Division and Istanbul Technical
University.
ESDA 2002 will feature more than 400 technical papers from 40 countries
covering the areas of petroleum engineering, applied mechanics, bioengineering,
applied thermo fluids, design engineering, advanced energy systems and
manufacturing engineering.
Speakers will include Panos Papalambros, an ASME Fellow from the University
of Michigan, who will speak on the subject of "An Enterprise
Context for Design Optimization," and Noshir A. Langrana, P.E.,
an ASME Fellow and professor from Rutgers University, who will discuss
"The Development of Patient-Specific Lumbar Spine Models and
Analysis."
David J. Ewins, an ASME member from London's Imperial College,
will discuss modal testing.
Sadik Kakac, from the University of Miami, will give a presentation
on "The Investigation of Two-Phase Flow Dynamic Instabilities
in Vertical and Horizontal In-Tube Boiling Systems."
The meeting will also feature a conference banquet on July 10, which
will include the presentation "Turkish Arts Through the Ages."
Registration for ESDA 2002 is $400 for ASME members, $450 for nonmembers.
Nonmember students may register for $100. ASME student members may register
