During the Summer Annual Meeting in June, the ASME Auxiliary will meet at 8:30 a.m. on June 11 at the Marriott City Center in Minneapolis.

Following the meeting, the usual ASME Auxiliary luncheon will be held at the Oak Grill Room at Marshall Field's on 7th and Nicollet Ave., which was formerly known as Dayton's Department Store.

The luncheon speaker will be Jennifer Alexander of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota. Alexander is a historian and will speak about the history of mechanical engineering. The luncheon will cost around $20. All are welcome to attend. To obtain tickets in advance, call (800) 843-2763.

Due to the decline in the stock market, the Auxiliary money, which is invested with ASME, has also declined significantly this year. Our ability at this time to give many or any scholarships this year is therefore in jeopardy.

The president of our Auxiliary has asked all who are able or wish to donate money toward scholarships this year to send their donations to our treasurer, Lynn Gerber, at 8815 Rockwood Rd., Boston, NY 14025-9780. All contributions toward scholarships are tax deductible.

I look forward to seeing you at the summer meeting in Minneapolis.

— Ella Baldwin-Viereck
Auxiliary publicity chair
