Get ready for ICONE-10 in 2002

ICONE-9 has just ended, but it's not too early to start preparing for the 10th International Conference On Nuclear Engineering (ICONE-10). The conference is slated for April 14-18, 2002 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Va., just outside of Washington.

ICONE organizers have issued a call for abstracts for the conference, which is sponsored by ASME. The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers and the French Society of Nuclear Energy have again been invited to be co-sponsors of this event.

The conference will be divided into 10 technical tracks covering such areas as plant operations and maintenance; major components reliability and materials issues; structural integrity, dynamics and mitigation, material cracking and failure; and license renewal, life extension, decommissioning and decontamination.

Other technical tracks will address safety, reliability and plant evaluations; next-generation systems; thermal hydraulics; basic nuclear engineering advances; nuclear fuel cycle, spent fuel and radwaste management; and codes, standards and regulatory issues.

The deadline for submitting a paper abstract is Sept. 14. Authors will be notified of their abstract's acceptance starting Oct. 15. Full-length papers are due for review Nov. 30.
