Fulbright fellowships offered in Finland and Ireland

The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) and the Fulbright Commission in Finland said that applicants are needed for the 2002-2003 competition for the Fulbright-Nokia Fellowship in Finland.

Specialized areas of interest include electronics, telecommunication technology, or information technology. Applicants must arrange a letter of invitation with a host university in Finland to lecture in English and participate in collaborative research for four and a half or nine months, with a preferred starting date of September 2002. Award benefits include free housing, travel for the grantee and one dependent, and a monthly stipend of approximately $2,400 (U.S.) for scholars without dependents and approximately $2,600 for grantees with dependents.

CIES and the Fulbright Commission in Ireland are also taking applications for the 2002-2003 award in Supply-Chain Engineering and Management at the Department of Process Engineering, University College Cork in Ireland.

Specializations include chemical or industrial engineering with experience in supply-chain engineering and management, as well as industry liaison experience.

The award is for 10 months, beginning in October 2002. Award benefits are a flat-sum grant of $30,000. The application deadline is Aug. 1. Applicants should be U.S. citizens and have college teaching experience.
