NDE conference to examine the impace of manufacturing innovations

ASME's Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Engineering Division will hold its Seventh NDE Topical Conference from April 23-25 at the Sheraton Gunter Hotel in San Antonio.

"Manufacturing Innovations and Their Impact on NDE" is the theme of the meeting, which is intended as a forum for technical and managerial professionals involved in the fundamental and applied aspects of nondestructive evaluation to exchange ideas, methods, and research and development findings.

The meeting is sponsored by the ASME NDE Engineering Division with the participation of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing and the Southwest Research Institute, which will be the local host.

The conference, consisting of plenary lectures and contributed papers, will address the many varied roles of NDE in engineering. Topics to be covered in the meeting's technical tracks will include material, defect and structure characterization; special applications; education; and instrumentation in ultrasonics, radiography, tomography, eddy currents and emerging technologies.

Several special events will also take place at the conference. Ajit K. Mal will receive the ASME NDE Division's Founder's Award for eminent achievement in NDE and engineering on Tuesday, April 24. The following day there will be a tour of the NDE facilities at Southwest Research Institute from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Registration before April 9 is $325 for members of ASME and cooperating societies, $450 for nonmembers. Retired ASME Life Members and nonmember students can register for $25. ASME student members may register for the conference free of charge. After April 9, registrants will have to pay a $25 surcharge.
