ASME Foundation and Auxiliary will award grants
to student members
At each Summer Annual Meeting, recipients of ASME
Foundation and ASME Auxiliary scholarships are selected. Approximately $150,000
in awards are made to student members under the programs funded by these
two organizations.
The deadline for applications each year is March 15. Applications and eligibility
requirements may be found at www.asme.org/educate/aid. In addition, student
loans are granted throughout the year to student members. Information about
the loan program is available at the same Web site.
Some of the scholarships are provided from earnings of gifts or bequests
that ASME members or their families have contributed.
These scholarships include the William J. and Marijane Adams, Allen J. Baldwin,
Berna Lou Cartwright, Garland Duncan, the John and Elsa Gracik, Melvin R.
Green, and the Kenneth A. Roe, as well as the Frank William and Dorothy Given
Miller Auxiliary Scholarship.
A minimum endowment of $25,000 is required to set up a named scholarship.
Helping deserving students continue their education is an excellent way to
leave a legacy to the mechanical engineering profession.
