Engineering efforts eligible for honors
The recipients of several ASME awards
will be determined in the coming months. Details about the awards appear

The Bergles-Rohsenow Young Investigator Award in Heat Transfer is given
to an individual who pursues research in heat transfer and has demonstrated
the potential to make significant contributions to this field. The award
recipient will receive a $1,000 honorarium, a Bronze Medal and a certificate.
Candidates must be younger than 36 and must have a Ph.D. or equivalent
degree in engineering. Nominations must be received by Oct.1.
The Fluids Engineering Award is given in honor of outstanding contributions
to the field of fluids engineering. The honoree will receive a $1,000
honorarium, a Bronze Medal and a certificate. Nominations are due Sept.
30.
The Freeman Scholar Award honors extensive experience in fluids engineering.
The recipient will receive a $7,500 honorarium, a certificate and an
expense supplement. Nominations are due Aug. 1.
The Heat Transfer Memorial Award is bestowed for an outstanding contribution
to the field of heat transfer. The honoree receives a $1,000 honorarium,
a plaque and a certificate. Nominations are due Oct. 1.
An outstanding contribution in the field of pressure vessel and piping
technology is recognized with the Pressure Vessel and Piping Medal.
The recipient will receive a $1,000 honorarium, a bronze medal and a
certificate. Nominations are due June 15.
George Westinghouse Medals are given for eminent achievement in the
power field of mechanical engineering. The Gold Medal has a $1,500 honorarium,
while the Silver Medal honorarium is $1,000. Candidates for the Silver
Medal must be younger than 45. Both winners also receive a certificate
and expense supplement. Nominations are due Sept. 1.
