A new ASME event, "Nanotechnology
Showcase: University Programs, Research Centers and Companies,"
will provide researchers from industry, government and academia the
opportunity to present the nanotechnology-related projects they've been
working on.
The exhibition, which will run from Sept. 22-24 at the Westin Pasadena
in Pasadena, Calif., is sponsored by the ASME Nanotechnology Institute
and Mechanical Engineering magazine.
The Showcase, expected to draw a crowd of at least 300, will be held
in conjunction with the Third Annual Integrated Nanosystems: Design,
Synthesis and Applications Conference, which also takes place Sept.
22-24 at the Westin.

Although commercial and government researchers will participate in
the Nanotechnology Showcase, the event is unique because it is the only
nanoscale engineering and science research event that calls attention
to the contributions of universities, said Raj Manchanda, director of
advanced technologies for ASME. For that reason, the Nanotechnology
Institute would particularly like to encourage the participation of
ASME student members and engineering department heads in the program,
he added.
"The show is meant to bring together executives, researchers, administrators
and students," Manchanda explained. "The program will make
it possible for universities to display and publicize their program's
successes and capabilities, recruit new students and post-doctoral researchers,
and network with press, venture capitalists and funding groups. It will
be a real community marketplace."
If your school or company is interested in garnering this kind of attention
for its nanotechnology activities, you'd better hurry; space is limited
to only 70 displays. Contact the Nanotechnology Institute today to reserve
your space at the showcase and to get information on registration prices.
