ASME offers hydrogen safety course online

ASME's Continuing Education Institute has teamed with Hydrogen Safety LLC to offer a new online training curriculum on the safe use, transportation and storage of gaseous and liquid hydrogen and the design of hydrogen-powered systems.

The SAFEH2 Web-based curriculum begins with a fundamental set of modules that provide what anyone working with hydrogen must know to maintain hydrogen safety. These interactive modules begin by emphasizing hydrogen properties, potential hazards and proven control techniques.

Subsequent modules then focus on specific, more detailed needs and concerns, such as fuel cell and facility design and operations, hazards analysis, risk management and design strategies, and other related topics. Each student is assigned a mentor — a hydrogen expert on staff at Hydrogen Safety LLC — to answer questions as they progress through the course.

SAFEH2 is intended for engineers, scientists, technicians, power plant managers and operators, facility managers who use hydrogen as part of their production processes, and safety professionals.

ASME members will receive a 10 percent discount on the $1,000 course fee.

To register for the training program, or for more information, contact Thomas Kuehl at kuehlt@asme.org, or call ASME Information Central at (800) 843-2763 or (973) 882-1167.
