New ASME book looks at winning technologies

A new offering from ASME Press, "Effective Innovation: The Development of Winning Technologies," presents readers with guidelines for a new world-class approach to developing technologies.

The 250-page book, by Don Clausing and Victor R. Fey, focuses on six steps for effective innovation. By using the unique method presented in the book, you will be able to create innovations that you would not otherwise create, develop innovations in shorter times, make innovations with high inherent reliability, and transfer innovations smoothly into product commercialization.

Based on ASME Life Member Clausing's experience in technology and product development and on Fey's experience in the development and application of Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) methodology, this book combines the best innovation practices of the United States, Japan and Western Europe with TRIZ, which was developed in the former U.S.S.R.

From technology strategy to concept creation and selection, the authors cover each innovation activity, taking you step-by-step through the effective methods. They provide a clear focus on robustness development and technology transfer that leads to the commercialization activity. Diagrams and case studies throughout the text illustrate the concepts.

"Effective Innovation: The Development of Winning Technologies," ASME order No. 802035, costs $55 for ASME members and $69 for nonmembers.
