ASME Assists Earthquake Relief Efforts
ASME, which has an office located roughly 1,000 miles from the epicenter of the May 12 earthquake, responded to the tragedy with a donation of 100,000 Renminbi (US $15,000) to the Red Cross Society of China for immediate disaster relief for the country's earthquake victims. Read more.

Strengthening Standards in Nigeria
ASME and the Standards Organization of Nigeria entered into an agreement on June 2 enabling both organizations to play a joint role in the development of standards and conformity assessment programs beneficial to the Nigerian economy. Read more.

Open-Source Team Meets at WKU
After months of working in a virtual research environment, five mechanical engineering students finally met face-to-face last month at Western Kentucky University to build a prototype of a human-powered water purification system. The prototype is based on an entry from the 2007 Student Design Competition, which is shown in the picture above. Read more.
