ASME responds to Virginia Tech
tragedy with gift, scholarship
ASME has responded with a contribution of $50,000 comprising a gift
to the university and the creation of a scholarship for the school's
graduate students.

Last month, the United Engineering Foundation came to the aid of Virginia
Tech with a gift of $25,000 to help the university defray costs during
its recovery from the April 16 school shootings.
New partnership offers Iraqi
engineers fellowship opportunities
The Iraq Engineer Enhancement Program (IEEP) is a public-private partnership
that would provide Iraqi engineers with a six- to 12-month fellowship
with public and private sector hosts in both U.S. and regional locations.
Turbo Expo was bigger, better
than ever in '07
The 2007 ASME Turbo Expo, which convened last month in Montreal, set
one of the highest attendance records for the event, with more than
3,000 delegates representing 54 countries.

More than 3,000 abstracts have been received and are currently being
reviewed for quality and appropriateness for the Congress.
ASME and JSME hold joint workshop
on nuclear codes and standards
A delegation of ASME representatives participated in a Joint Workshop
on Nuclear Codes and Standards in Japan following the 15th International
Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE 15) here in late April.

conduct R&D Symposium
Last month, ASME joined 20 other engineering organizations, representing
more than one million engineers, in sponsoring the Fifth Annual Engineering
R&D Symposium in Washington, D.C.
ASME hosts first Energy Grand
