Susan H. Skemp, a Past President of ASME, joined the American Society of Civil Engineers this month as the executive vice president of the Civil Engineering Forum for Innovation. She will be responsible for leading the CEFI organization and developing programs and initiatives to support and expand the forum's mission. Additionally, Skemp will lead the CEFI in its efforts to influence research and development initiatives within research agencies, private practice and industry and academia, and she will work closely with many of ASCE's internal departments including Grants, Membership, Government Relations, and Professional and Education Activities. Skemp, an ASME Fellow, was president of ASME from 2002–03. Over the years, she has held a number of key positions within the Society, including ASME Fellow for the Office of Science and Technology Policy, Executive Office of the President; ASME Board of Governors member; Industry Advisory Board member; chair and vice president of the Board on Member Interests and Development; member of the Committee on Staff; and advisor and secretary to the Nominating Committee. She has been an ASME member since 1982.
