The consensus among the 175 engineers attending the Fourth Annual Engineering
R&D Symposium, held May 17-18 in Washington, D.C., is that engineers
have good reason to be excited about the American Competitiveness Initiative.
Rep. Sherwood Boehlert honored
with ASME President's Award
The award, presented by ASME President Richard E. (Gene) Feigel, was
presented to Boehlert in recognition of his leadership in advancing
the science, engineering, and technology enterprise and for his years
of dedicated service to the House Science Committee. Boehlert will be
retiring from office this fall.

U.S. Coast Guard Captain Vincent Wilczynski, a resident of Old Lyme,
Conn., and a professor and chief of the mechanical engineering section
at the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., has been named a
American Council of Education (ACE) fellow for the 200607 academic
year.
