The ACE Fellow Program is the premier academic leadership-development
program in the United States. Its emphasis is on identifying and preparing
senior leadership to serve in America's colleges and universities. As
an ACE fellow who will spend the next academic year working with the
president and senior faculty at the University of Rhode Island, Wilczynski
will collaborate on the issues of strategic planning and decision-making
processes in higher education.
A member of ASME since 1992, Wilczynski has received a number of Society
awards and honors, including the 2005 ASME Edwin F. Church Medal for
his outstanding contributions to the enhancement of engineering education
through ASME's pre-college programs.
Wilczynski currently serves as vice president of the ASME Pre-College
Education Board and was instrumental in ASME's involvement in FIRST
(For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an organization
founded by inventor Dean Kamen to inspire young people to get involved
with science and technology. Wilczynski currently serves on the FIRST
Executive Advisory Board.
With more than 1,600 member institutes, the American Council on Education
is the major coordinating body for higher education in the United States.
It seeks to provide leadership and a unifying voice on key higher education
issues and influences public policy through advocacy, research, and
program initiatives.
