ASME's search for an executive director begins

A search committee was appointed during the Board of Governors meeting in March to identify a successor to ASME Executive Director David L. Belden, who will retire from ASME in June 2002 after 15 years of service.

The nine members of the committee were appointed by ASME President John R. Parker, P.E. The members are: Susan Ipri Brown, Richard E. Feigel, Clark G. McCarrell, Parker and K. Keith Roe.

Paul J. Torpey will serve as the committee's chair with Donald N. Zwiep serving as co-chair.

Rene J. Ackerman and David L. Belden will also serve the committee as staff support and advisor, respectively.

The committee will be effective at the close of the ASME Business Meeting at ASME's Summer Annual Meeting in June in New Orleans.

More information about the procedure for applying for the executive director position will be available in upcoming issues of ASME NEWS. Until then, members with questions can e-mail Rene Ackerman at ackermanr@asme.org.
