Please do not forget to reserve your tickets to the Guest Luncheon sponsored by the Auxiliary, June 8, at the Summer Annual Meeting. The cost of the luncheon, including the price of the bus, will be $26.

The luncheon will be held at a restaurant in a historic park, where there will be many things to do and see. Reservations can be made by calling ASME at (800) 843-2763. Everyone is welcome.

The National contest for FIRST students building robotics vehicles was held in Atlanta on April 16-17. These FIRST students are eligible to apply for scholarships to mechanical engineering programs as entering freshmen. The second part of the endowment provided by Lucille Clarke for high school students will be going to FIRST students. These FIRST Scholarships will be sponsored equally by the ASME Foundation and the ASME Auxiliary. FIRST stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology."

It is now the time for mechanical engineering departments to begin preparing the paperwork to apply for the Original Clarke Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to mechanical engineering departments, which then distribute the money to beginning freshmen.

The Auxiliary encourages all mechanical engineering departments that are eligible to apply for these scholarships to do so. For those departments that have not yet been able to obtain scholarship funding, this may be your lucky year.
