Middle East Expo debuts in November

The first Middle East Mechanical Expo Conference and Exhibition, to be held this November in Bahrain, has been designed to be the perfect meeting place for the region's mechanical engineering professionals.

The 2007 Mechanical Expo, which will take place from Nov. 4–7 at the Gulf International Convention Center in Manama, Bahrain, is organized by ASME Saudi Arabian Section and Bahrain Society of Engineers and is sponsored by companies and international equipment manufacturers in the Mid East region.

The event is intended for engineers, managers, operation and maintenance personnel, consultants, regulatory authorities, inspection personnel, failure analysts, equipment suppliers, educators and researchers.

Technical sessions at the conference will cover areas including rotating and stationary equipment, including gas turbines, pumps, pressure vessels compressors and steam turbines; energy and HVAC; equipment design, maintenance and reliability; field problems, troubleshooting and case studies; vibration tools and techniques; new technologies and research, including equipment design, repair, monitoring and diagnosis; safety and environmental issues; equipment acquisition and life cycle cost; life monitoring, risk assessment and predictions; and classical mechanical engineering areas such as heat transfer and fluid dynamics.

Production of much of the world's oil in the Middle East along with the surge in development in this region makes the Middle East boom in using mechanical systems and equipment needed for such remarkable regional growth. Reliable acquisition, operation and maintaining of such equipment become indeed essential in assuring dependable energy production and sustained development.

The Mechanical Expo's technical program will comprise five technical tracks, world renowned keynote and scholar speakers, 11 technical workshops, panel discussions, plus an international exhibition. Sam Zamrik, ASME's new president, has been scheduled as one of the keynote presenters.
