BOG members, others begin terms at summer meeting

TORONTO — In addition to Sam Zamrik becoming ASME's new president, and Thomas M. Barlow being named president-nominee, several Society officers began their terms at the Summer Annual Meeting last month.

Frank Adamek, Don R. Frikken, and Marc W. Goldsmith joined the Board of Governors, replacing outgoing members William T. Cousins, Dirk F. Dauw, and Robert J. Simoneau. Adamek, Frikken and Goldsmith — all ASME Fellows — will each serve three-year terms as Board of Governors member-at-large.

The BOG also appointed Robert Albert as the vice president of Safety Codes and Standards for 2007–2009 and Robert Luna to fill the unexpired term of Walter Laity as senior vice president, Centers, which runs through 2009.

Five vice presidents began their three-year terms at SAM: Candace Bauer (Professional Development, Practice and Ethics); Larry Kielasa (Financial Operations); Joseph W. Milton (Standardization and Testing); Vincent Wilczynski (Public Awareness); and Justin R. Young (Affinity Communities).
