Experts to discuss nanotechnology during September Webcast series
In September, ASME will begin broadcasting a series of nanotechnology Webcasts aimed at disseminating a fundamental understanding of nano materials, manufacturing and applications. The target audience for the series is engineers and scientists, university faculty, graduate students and venture capitalists. Read more.


Eastern HPV Challenge gets 13 entries
The first-ever East Coast Human Powered Vehicle Challenge, which took place in May., fared well, with 10 schools bringing 13 vehicles, compared with the veteran competition in Reno, Nev., a month earlier, when 20 vehicles from 18 schools competed. Read more.
Vachon on ballot as president-nominee
Vachon, an active member for 42 years, holds the highest grade of membership, Honorary Member. He is president of VNA Systems Inc., which develops artificial intelligence and machine-vision devices for medical diagnostics. Read more.


Exhibit with an R&D focus to debut at '02 Congress
The Research and Development Exposition (R&D Expo) will replace the traditional exhibit at ASME's International Mechanical Engineering Congress this year in New Orleans. The Expo will be a separate event that is scheduled concurrently with the Congress. Read more.


New payment structure for younger engineers
Dues bills, slated to arrive this month, will have a new payment structure for younger engineers. Starting with the 2002-2003 dues cycle, the discount schedule available to younger engineers will be based on the number of years following graduation instead of the member's age. Read more.
